My oldest daughter uses it to train form the tennis competition at her school. my youngest daugter is a beginner and it work great for both of them. It is really quick to switch from on setting to the other. For me it is heavy (when i have to pick it up to put it in the trunk) and cumbersome and it does not take a 150 balls.

Instructions are detailed. The machine is simple. A lot of fun. Our girls team uses the machine to give more competative shots. It's hard when you can only practice to the level of your opponent. The Lobster not only challenges each girl at and above their level but also helps them to work on a certain shot that continues to give them trouble. My only suggestion is to provice a canvas bag for all the attachments and metal ball covers. The bag could be used as advertisment as it lays next to the machine.

i bought a used 401 from a player who had is own court in his home. he told me that the machine will need some parts replaced and lobster was more than willing to help. so i did call lobster's tech support and they were very helpful in determining the parts i needed. i also ordered a part which will eventually have to be replaced as well. few days later, the parts come. replaced it...(note: you have to be tech savvy or have some mechanical aptitude to fix this. but it's pretty much DIY) an hour later take it to the court. the result? it's even better than when it was first bought. very happy with it. especially the tech support i received.

The 401 was inconsistant. Since I had one before, I recognized what it might be and called the Lobster people. They sent me a new detent to install and should take care of the proplem. Will keep you updated. Thanks CDM

I use it for youth baseball hitting. It will throw 120 strikes without miss. Kids are not afraid of the balls. I can use it indoors without needing a batting cage, since the tennis balls won't damage lights or insulation. Only draw backs: only one type of spin at a time without stopping to reposition adapter and remote is off/on only.

Ball does not shoot very fast, variable speeds is by switching the depth of the one adapter, and that only means the arc is different.. very difficult to shoot balls from baseline to baseline without it being a lob

good for volleying drills for beginners
