My only complaint is with the expensive remote....doesn't work so well from a short distance...changed battery.same results...aggravating having to walk BACK to the machine while holding the remote! As a 3.5 player this machine will allow me to practice my weaknesses and improve muscle memory of my shots. The first time I took the Elite 1 out I hit more balls in one hour than I would in 3 to 4 matches. Easy to use and a great workout to improve fitness also. The only way to get better is to practice. I use my Lobster Elite everyday, the battery life is great and the options it came with were fine for me. I just wish it would have included the remote control for the price. Other than that it really is an effective machine that allows you to work on your volleys and backhands and the horizontal feature really has me moving back and forth on the courts. The slow speeds are defintely enough for me but on the fastest settings you better keep your eye on the ball (Full speed not recommended for beginners).

It's a great, durable, and basic machine, but even more convenient when you purchase the 2-function remote. Elite one is primarily used to improve ground strokes (forehand & backhand) at the baseline and volleys at the net. However, you can physically re-position the machine anywhere on/off the court with a few adjustments in the control panel if you are interested in practicing strokes with balls landing near service lines, no man's land, a small distance from the net, or anywhere along the sidelines. If this is so, then you may prefer the elite 2 and above with several additional options as far as oscillations and 2-line programs. The elite one is for any player at any level who's primary focus is to improve basic forehand/backhand/volley stokes and footwork/placement, especially, to ensure that constant repetition of strokes are embedded into muscle memory. This machine will not be for those who want to run all over the court with random, oscillating shots. Otherwise, you may want to consider purchasing machines above Elite One such as Elite Two and above which offer more functions, programs, and drills. This machine serves its primary focus for me in order to build and maintain strong foundational skills of baseline ground strokes and volleys due to being an advanced player (4.5 level) and having accessibility to many practice partners to work on my overall game rather than going for an upgraded machine. If you plan to teach your kids or privately to students, then I suggest going for the Elite 4, 5, or 5LE. Other than that, lobster elite machines are fantastic, durable, and at an affordable price that rarely goes on sale or clearance.

We have had it for over a month. We play a few times a week. This is so much easier to take to different places than the SAMS we used before. It is still a little heavy lifting it to the trunk but the wheels work great. We have had no problem with it and would recommend to anyone who is planning to buy a tennis machine. The only drawback is that the Elite One model doesn't have a verticle adjustment. If you can afford, you should get the Elite two.

Love the lobster. Great work-out, good for perfecting any shot. Easy to setup. Perfect size, would not want more than 150 balls at a time.

Glad I purchased the remote - not uncommon to want to pause in the middle a rally especially when in the sweep mode - can be exhausting! Also glad I purchased the better battery. The machine needs to be charged at least monthly but the basic battery can overcharge the machine - this would be a problem when I am in florida for the winter months.

Only complaints:
handle could be more sturdy
wish there was a way to know the elevation. elevation can be changed (and needs changing when you change the speed) but there is no way to know where I set it previously.

The machine is great! You must learn how to use the settings, but once you do it is wonderful. Varying speeds and angles make for a good workout. I did not get the higher end battery and I am just fine -- It holds a charge for hours and is ready the next day!

This product is great, the tennis court in my neighborhood is about 3 blocks away, I set my hopper of balls on top of the machine and roll it to the court, no need to drive. It rolls great and is light weight for handling (heavy for dead lifting). The set up and tear down is 1 step, simple. I have yet to run out of battery life and the machine has a 20 second or more delay so you don't need the remote.

The only CON I see is that there is no horizonal width adjustmnet for the osilator, and the timing between 10 seconds and 12 seconds with the osillator on is (life and death if you are not in the best shape). 12 seconds seems to be accurate, but set it to 10 and it seems to be more like 2 seconds.

Overall the machine is amazing and so much fun to use.

I've own this machine for a month or so. Good machine so far to practice your backhands, forehands, drops, etc. The battery lasts a lot and charges overnight with the standard charger. I didn't get the fast charger nor the remote since I don't think it's necessary (at least not for me). One thing though, is that the horizontal feature sometimes sends the ball out of the playing lines and there's no way to adjust that. You have to lower the speed to get to all the balls on time, but if you move or run fast is not a big issue. On the heavy side if you have to take the machine in a vehicle but if you don't, you just roll it and it's fine. Make sure you vacuum it after every use to remove the tennis ball fibers since it gets a lot of it inside.

The only problem I have found is that it is difficult to transport. It does not fit in the trunk of my car and it is difficult to carry because of the location of the moulded hand holds on the underside of the machine. There must be a better way.

The inability to narrow the sweep from a given distance is a major disadvantage. The remote is too limited for its cost. The inability to simulate serves is also a disadvantage. The portability is great.

If I had to replace the machine, I would try to find a machine that would address these disadvantages.

I'm lucky to live next to a tennis court. I've finally found a hitting partner. I've waited 5 years for the sights and sounds of a ball machine to help groove the strokes. I fill it three times, one forehand load of 150, one backhand of 150, and one oscillation of 150. The speed and feed work very well. The up/down is also very accurate. I really enjoy hitting volleys with it, too. I have only used it four times, but have thoroughly enjoyed the workouts. I love the oscillation because it will challenge to the point of exhuastion, and then eases up, and then picks it back up. The battery is excellent and the portability is easy. The 450 balls in a short time is the best ticket in town for me. I like it so much I'm about ready to name it. My daughter likes it because of the consistent speed and bounce and that you can choose not to oscillate. The beauty of this machine for me is that it teaches through repetition which helps remind me to think of execution of stroke, from body balance to follow thru, and then to prepare for the next shot (150) times. The machine wins, but it doesn't have good lateral movement. I really love trying to kick its tires, and maybe drill one right down its middle.

Anyone who plays tennis knows how expense it can be if they desire to improve their game. With lessons, court time, the need for other players to play with at your level plus matching the times to play when they are available, this whole task can be very discouraging unless money is no concern. With the Loster, not only do I have a partner that doesn't make mistakes but everything I learned from my coach, I can practice rigorously until it becomes a habit. This I can not do with another player unless they just wanted to devote their time to helping me and a daily coach at $65 per hour and up can be OUTRAGEOUSLY expense. I play for two hours a day working on specific drills. With a coach, the money I spent on the machine would have only had covered me for just under two weeks of coaching. If I had to pay for court time, the money spent on this machine would have covered me for just under a month of play at a club. For anyone even remotely serious about tennis, if you do the math, I am sure you too will find that regardless of use, this is the most cost effective way to play and improve your tennis game. The Lobster was the most highly recommended machine for me as well. There are other options but what has made this so easy for me is how easy it is to get around with this machine. Other machines although only 25 pounds you must physically carry to the court which is a pain for anyone. Some have small wheels which in the end aren't very durable while the Lobster has large wheels, a long handle and is a VERY durable product.As far as the play, the oscillating, the different spins, the lobs, etc all make this as real as having a coach or partner. Some have complained about using topspin and it slowing down the rate at which the balls shoots out. You can speed up the machine but in the end, you don't want balls coming out too quickly after each other because you won't be able to simulate a real playing experience. It's a beautiful product. Performs as advertised, packed with features. My only cons with this product is the lack of heavy top-spin (the ball comes out really slow with a heavy spin) and the lack of some more options in terms of ball-feeding. But don't get me wrong, even though it's an expensive product, this is porbably the most action-packed ball machine in this price range. That, plus it's light weight, great portability and beautiful design makes it a great buy. I totally recommend it.
Ps: don't forget to get it with the remote. Trust me, it's a must have.
